The main square as it is known today in Debrecen was open to the public of the city in 2001. The determinant work of art of the square is the Kossuth statue, created by Szigfrid Pongrácz and Ede Margó (1914). Emerging from the surface cover of the square in front of the group is the creation of Tibor Cs. Uhrin, which represents the coat of arms of the city of Debrecen made of colourful mosaic pieces. The most spectacular element of the square is the Millenium fountain, the ornament of which is the picture called Honfoglalás showing the arrival of the Hungarians, as well as the phoenix, representing the rebirth of the city.
