In 1690 the city bought the plot and house from the Bika Family who had been living there since the 16th century and in 1699 they developed it into an inn. By 1915 the hotel we see today was built in eclectic style according to the plans of the first Hungarian Olympic champion Alfréd Hajós and Lajos Villányi. Béla Bartók gave several concerts in the concert hall of the hotel, thus the hall was named after him. In the conference room named after Alfréd Hajós – subject to prior notice – you can see the beautiful frescos on fibreboard of the painters of the Hortobágy Art Colony. Visiting is subject to prior notice.
